The difference one tool makes

Without a system
How most families do it
Endless group texts with no decisions made
Spreadsheets that no one updates
Photos scattered across phones and email threads
Arguments about who said they wanted what
One person carrying the mental load with no system to back them up
Resentment builds, relationships fracture
With SnapClearout
How it should work
One shared space everyone can see and use
Every item photographed, tagged, and tracked
Fair claim system — no more "I called it first"
Remote family members can view, claim, and weigh in from anywhere
Transparent progress — everyone sees what's decided
The process brings the family closer, not apart

Most families don't realize there's a better way until they're already overwhelmed.

How it works

1
Snap the home
Walk through and photograph items room by room. A simple system keeps everything organized as you go.
2
Invite the family
Send invite links to siblings, parents, or anyone involved. They join in seconds — no app download required.
3
Claim & decide
Family members browse items and submit claims. The built-in system keeps it fair and transparent.
4
Clear it out
Track pickups, mark items as done, and sell or donate the rest. The home gets cleared, the family stays whole.

Most families are up and running in under 20 minutes.

Why families trust us

I built this because my family needed it

My parents were getting older, and the time came to start thinking seriously about clearing out their house. A lifetime of memories filled every room — items collected from world travels, photo albums, a garage full of tools, model trains, and so much more. And with my brothers and me spread across the country, none of this was going to happen around a kitchen table.

I started with just the books and found myself buried in Google searches trying to find someone who'd even take them. There had to be a better way.

Then came the harder question — how do you decide who gets what among family, when nobody's in the same city?

I couldn't find a tool that helped with both problems. So I built one. SnapClearout exists so other families don't have to figure it out from scratch. This isn't a side project — it's a tool I built because I needed it.

FAQ

Questions families ask before starting

No. SnapClearout runs in any web browser — Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge — on your phone, tablet, or computer. There's nothing to download or install. Just go to the site, sign up, and start. This also means family members can join instantly from any device.
Right now, the project owner manages the inventory — adding items, photos, and details. Family members you invite can view everything, claim items, and leave comments. This keeps the process organized with one person driving it forward.
We designed SnapClearout for the least-technical person in your family. The interface is simple — big buttons, clear labels, no confusing menus. If they can use Facebook or send a text message, they can use SnapClearout. And if someone truly can't participate digitally, another family member can add claims on their behalf.
That's one of the main reasons SnapClearout exists. Remote family members get the same view as anyone standing in the house — they can see every item, every photo, and every claim. They browse and participate on their own schedule. No one gets left out just because they can't be there in person.
Absolutely. Your clearout is completely private and invite-only. No one can see your items, photos, or family details unless you specifically invite them. We don't sell data, we don't show ads, and we don't share anything with third parties. Your family's stuff is your family's business.
Yes — you can create rooms for different locations within your project. A room could be "Mom's Kitchen," "Storage Unit," or "Lake House Bedroom." The Clearout Pass gives you unlimited rooms and 2,000 photos, so you can organize across multiple locations however works best for your family.
That's exactly what the claim system is designed for. When multiple people claim the same item, everyone can see it — no secrets. The family can then resolve it together using whatever method works for them: conversation, drawing lots, or the project organizer can make a decision. SnapClearout makes the conflict visible and manageable instead of letting it fester.
That's okay — you don't have to have everything figured out. Some families start by photographing one room on a weekend visit and don't invite anyone else for weeks. The free plan gives you 90 days and 25 photos, which is plenty to get a feel for how it works before committing to the full Clearout Pass.
Your family deserves a better
